KNAUF ST – Gypsum Board / Drywall

KNAUF ST – Gypsum Board / Drywall

The Knauf ST Gypsum Board consists of a non-combustible gypsum core, covered with reinforced cardboard, 100% recycled, featuring a light cream finish on the main face and a light brown color on the back side. The front cardboard is folded around the longitudinal edges to reinforce and protect the core, and the transverse ends have a square, right-angle cut.

The longitudinal edges are beveled, designed to facilitate joint treatment, thereby providing a uniform finish between boards. The Knauf ST Gypsum Board is available in a variety of standard thicknesses for application in the dry construction system.

General Usage

  • The 3/8″ Knauf ST Gypsum Board – It is lightweight and recommended for ceiling systems with a maximum frame modulation of 16″ (40.6 cm). Ideal for curved surfaces and for installation in systems with double board.
  • The 1/2″ Knauf ST Gypsum Board – Ideal for single or multiple layer applications on walls and ceilings indoors, subjected to acoustic testing.
  • Used as a direct adhered coating over walls in traditional masonry.
  • Fixed and suspended ceilings.
  • Walls with metal structure.
  • Walls with wooden structure.
  • Direct coatings.
  • Semi-direct coatings.
  • Self-supporting coatings.

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Gypsum boards are installed on metal or wooden frames for walls or ceilings in interior areas.
  • The installation of Knauf ST gypsum board is not recommended for walls over an insulating blanket installed continuously over frame elements. The insulating material should be inserted between the posts or beams.
  • Excessive or continuous exposure to humidity and extreme temperatures should be avoided. Gypsum board is not recommended where it may be exposed to temperatures above 125°F (52°C) for prolonged periods.
  • When laminated gypsum boards absorb water, their weight increases. With a 10% increase in weight, there is a 70% loss in strength.
  • This board does not have a water-repellent treatment.
  • In contact with water, it takes approximately 2 hours to reach a 10% increase in weight.
